888B Investor Permanent Residence visa

Application conditions

You must meet one of the following criteria: If you are a principal applicant for 188B and are invited to apply for this visa on or after 1 July 2021, you must have held your visa for at least 3 years If you intend to apply for an 888B visa through an 188B visa associate applicant, the 188B Visa associate applicant needs to have held an 188B visa for at least 3 years (* Some applicants may be exempted under special circumstances of COVID-19)

Maintenance investment

If you are invited to apply for 188B on or after 1 July 2021, you will need to invest $2.5 million at the time of approval. To obtain approval for 888B, you (or your partner) must:


· Maintain your investment for the duration of your 188B holdings

· Inform Immigration of any investment transfer at any time

Hold specific investments

If the applicant is invited to apply for 188B before 1 July 2021, at the time of approval, you have invested not less than $1.5 million in Australian State Government bonds. The designated investment must meet at least:


· If 188B is filed on or after 1 July 2015, it is 4 years or more

· If you apply for 188B before July 1, 2015, it will be 3 years and 11 months

(Your designated investments must always be held in your name or in your and your spouse's name)


If the applicant is invited to apply for 188B after 1 July 2021, at the time of approval, the applicant shall invest not less than $2.5 million in Australia in different investment projects according to the following proportion:


Venture capital funds and growth private equity funds of at least $500,000 invest in start-ups and small private companies

· A managed fund of at least $750,000 invested in emerging companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange

· A minimum of $1.25 million in eligible managed funds

Residence requirement

Unless you are exempt from COVID-19, if you hold 188B and are invited to apply for 888B by 1 July 2021, you must have lived in Australia for at least 2 of the 4 years prior to the application


If you hold an 188B and are invited to apply for an 888B on or after 1 July 2021, you must have lived in Australia for at least 2 years in the 3 years prior to the application


If you are a deputy applicant and the principal applicant (your spouse) holds 188B, you must be in Australia at least:


· If the principal applicant is invited to apply on or after July 1, 2021, you will need to have lived for 2 of the 3 years prior to applying for 888B

· If the principal applicant is invited to apply before July 1, 2021, you will need to have lived for 2 of the 4 years prior to applying for 888B
