TAFE is simply the name of a public "vocational education school"
picture
TAFE is just the name of the Australian public vocational Education school, called Technical and Further Education. It is funded by each state government in Australia and aims to provide students with a more practical curriculum. There are only eight TAFE schools in Australia, one per state:
TAFE ACT Capital Territory TAFE schools
TAFE NSW TAFE Schools in NSW
TAFE VIC TAFE School in Victoria
TAFE WA TAFE Schools in Western Australia
TAFE TAS TAFE School
TAFE QLD Queensland TAFE School
TAFE NT Northern Territory TAFE School
TAFE SA South Australian TAFE School
However, each TAFE has one to multiple campuses, and we take TAFE QLD as an example, with a total of 6 branches:
Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Bremer, North Queensland, Skills Tech
In each branch, there are different campuses scattered, let's take TAFE QLD Brisbane as an example:
As can be seen from the above list, there are TAFE campuses in many districts, but these campuses do not offer all courses. Take Fashion Design for example, Mooloolaba and Mt Gravatt campuses offer courses and campuses related to fashion design for international students
再以体育健身(Sports and Fitness) 为例
Courses are offered on different campuses in many cities, so students have a greater choice.
Second, what kind of courses does TAFE offer? Is it easy to apply
Many students consult TAFE for immigration, so what courses does TAFE offer and what kind of courses are helpful for immigration?
TAFE offers a variety of courses, generally speaking, there are the following categories: catering management, engineering, fashion design, early education, English courses, horticulture, beauty salon, sports management, engineering and construction.
The above courses include a variety of occupations on the SOL Skilled Immigrant list, such as chef in the food and beverage management category; Under the engineering category of plumber, auto repair, etc.; Horticulturist under the horticulture category.
So, are these courses for immigration? Of course not. Let's just say that compared with a one-in-a-thousand accountant, IT programmers have a little easier to find jobs and get a lower score. Therefore, there are many students who study bachelor and master in Australia, and find that immigration is hopeless after graduation, and they begin to turn to TAFE.
This needs to talk about another question, is TAFE really easy to apply for?
Many students think that TAFE is a vocational and technical course, and the domestic "higher vocational", it is not so easy to apply ~ wrong! Although the nature of TAFE courses is vocational and technical education, it is funded by the Australian government and is public in nature, so the audit standards are very strict. At the same time, TAFE courses are mainly provided to local students in Australia to improve the employment rate of local students. So there will be a limit on the number of international students.
When applying for TAFE, you will need to refer to your English score (generally no lower than IELTS 5.5), and your previous educational background (high school score, if the highest previous education is a bachelor's degree, you will also need to provide a bachelor's degree). Why provide high school grades? Under normal circumstances, the diploma and diploma awarded by TAFE are equivalent to or higher than the level of high school study, so it is necessary to provide high school results when applying.
But even if all the materials are provided, there is still the possibility of rejection. There are only a few public schools in Australia
Private VET Colleges
What other options do I have besides TAFE?
VET stands for Vocational Education and Training and is classified under VET by the nature of the school, public and private. Public schools are the TAFE schools we have described above, and private schools have relatively many choices.
Many students worry that the private school will read out the degree will be recognized? Could it be a pheasant school?
We have to refer to a standard CRICOS when choosing a school. This CRICOS will look familiar to you, right? This is the code that the Australian government stipulates can enroll international students. If a school is registered with CRICOS, it means that the school is eligible to recruit international students. Let's look at the following example:
The CRICOS for UQ is 00025B
The CRICOS for TAFE QLD is 03020E
So do private schools have this CRICOS code? Let's take some of the more well-known private VeTs on the Gold Coast as examples
Each of the four campuses of Holmes College (one of the few private VET schools that can offer a bachelor) has its own CRICOS code
The CRICOS code for Imagine College is 02695C
Therefore, when choosing a private VET school, it is important to check whether there is a CRICOS code, and only these registered schools are eligible to enroll international students.
After saying the school, we will talk about the final academic certificates that may be received. VET offers diploma education from certificate 1-4, diploma, associate degree, bachelor (a few will provide), and these academic certificates are recognized by the Australian government!
This means that even if you graduate from a private VET school, you will be able to find a job in Australia with a diploma. So don't worry about whether I can still find a job after graduating from these private VET, and whether my degree will be recognized
This is a brief introduction to TAFE and private VET colleges, so don't be silly and confused.
