The Australian National University (ANU), referred to as "ANU" or "Australian National", is a public research comprehensive university founded in 1946, located in Canberra, the capital of Australia. He is also a member of the Pacific Rim Alliance of Universities, the International Consortium of Research Universities, the Australian Consortium of Eight Universities, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The university is the only institution in Australia established by legislation of the Australian Federal Parliament and enjoys the status of a national university.

The Australian National University has the largest library in the southern hemisphere, the supercomputer Gadi, and the world-renowned Siding Spring Observatory. Australia's four national academies - the Australian Academy of Sciences, the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, the Australian Academy of Humanities and the Australian Academy of Law are located here. The world's first clinical medical penicillin and photon instantaneous transfer technology were also born here.

The founding history of the Australian National University can be traced back to the early 20th century, after 1946, only postgraduate students were admitted, and undergraduate teaching began in 1960. The proportion of PHDS among teaching staff is 88%, the highest in Australia. More than one-third of Australia's Commonwealth academicians teach or engage in research here. The Australian National University is ranked 30th in the QS World University Rankings 2023.
